At Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board, we know that each student is unique in his or her learning, and we ensure our programs help our students reach their full potential. In addition to the programming offered at neighbourhood schools, we have many alternative programs that are available to students such as Programs of Choice, French Immersion and Outdoor Education.
For many parents, child care is an important factor in choosing a school. High quality accessible child care and early learning programs are offered in over 40 schools throughout HWDSB by a number of community partners. All programs are licensed by the Ministry of Children and Youth Services.
Alternative Education is available for students who may require flexibility outside the traditional classroom setting. For secondary students, our Specialist High Skills Majors and Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program (OYAP) offer students the chance to acquire workplace skills while at school. Students may also earn Ontario high school credits online through eLearning.
After School Academic Support is available for students beyond the regular school day to strengthen literacy and numeracy skills through programs such as onMath and Boys to Men.
We pride ourselves in ensuring we have Safe & Caring Schools. All HWDSB schools offer programs that develop appropriate socials skills to assist in the prevention of bullying and conflict resolution. Parents can help support their children by reinforcing the HWDSB Character Builds attributes.
