The Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board provides students with the opportunity to integrate field experience with classroom learning. The Board operates the Christie Outdoor Education Centre at the Christie Lake Conservation Area. Over the past number of years with the generous support of Columbian Chemicals and the Hamilton Industrial Environmental Association students have also had the opportunity to attend the Dave Brown Outdoor Education Centre. Columbian Chemicals has also provided funds and supported the Envirothon Program. This program gives high school students the chance to participate in an "Environment Olympics" competition.
