Character Athlete of the Week
A character athlete of the week is an athlete who has participated on multiple school sports teams. He or she often displays leadership and sportsmanship both on and off the field of play; a strong commitment to teachers, coaches, teammates and the school community. A character athlete gives their best effort in academics and behaves with integrity and respect every day.

Hava Starkman - Female Athlete
School: Westdale
Sport: Volleyball
Hava is a grade 12 student who is a natural leader and sports enthusiast. Hava plays volleyball and rugby and was the captain for both teams this year.
She also was the touch football manager, and is planning on playing co-ed volleyball and slo-pitch. On the court or field she plays her heart out and is a true competitor. She brings teammates together and encourages others to give 100%. Teammates will often look to her for leadership and she is well respected on and off of the court. She has the ability to make people feel good and her sense of humour and positive outlook is infectious.
Hava is also co-president of the Athletic Council. She is an excellent organizer with many fun activities on the go. Every week she sets the agenda and runs meetings with a large group of students who have organized many successful events and fundraisers.
On top of all the sport related tasks and activities Hava dedicates her time to, she is also an academic with a Queen’s University acceptance and a scholarship. Westdale is proud to have her on our teams and in our programs. She is a true Warrior and an inspiration to all.
